Annotating a Text: The Joy Luck Club 13&14

(During the online teaching period, you need to use your phone to shoot a short video for your annotation. Just do it page by page, stay on each page for about two seconds, and make sure that I can see it clearly!)

Read and annotate Story13&14  in The Joy Luck Club (p. 255-306).

As we go through the year, experiment with different methods to find an annotating system that works for you. Please be aware that you don't do this for me, and while you don't have to write long sentences in the margin, merely underlining a few sentences or circling some words is not acceptable.

What's more, in this unit, we'll have several rounds of discussions in class, and you'll later work on textual analysis, so you'd better pay special attention to the big ideas of the stories.

(Let's all use the same version of the paper book so that it's easier to follow some textual evidence in class discussion.)
